Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman has confirmed that controlled culling of badgers is expected to be piloted initially in two areas in early autumn next year (just after the Olympics) as a method of bovine TB control. The two pilot culls will be managed and monitored to examine how safe, effective and humane this is.
UK Safari subscribers can probably answer that for the Government right now.
Spelman said: "There is great strength of feeling on this issue and no-one wants to see badgers culled."
Sorry Caroline, but if 40 plus years of Government approved badger culling has taught us one thing it's that someone clearly does.
