Moss  Marsh Hair Moss

Latin name: Polytrichum commune

Size: Leaf size approximately 8-12mms long

Distribution: Found throughout the UK.

Months seen: All year round. Fruiting bodies appear in the summer.

Habitat: Bogs, moorland and damp woodlands.

Special features: A tall stemmed moss, often growing to 20cms high and forming large 'cushions'. It has narrow leaves and red-brown stems.
