Welcome to the Safewings Website.
Safewings was founded in 1966 by
Andy Meads to take in and care for injured wild birds. Today, Andy runs the
sanctuary together with his wife Jacqui. In 2003 they successfully released 500 birds back into the wild. This year promises to be even
busier.
Safewings have never accepted financial donations. If anyone offers a donation
they ask that the money goes to the Wildlife Veterinary Treatment Fund at
their local Vets. This fund, initiated by Safewings, is the first of it's kind in the Country. The monies are held in Trust and used at the discretion of the Vets for
Safewings or anyone taking in any injured wildlife. If you would like to donate to the fund
please make cheques payable to "AVENUE VETERINARY HOSPITAL" and send them to: 33 St Peters Avenue, Kettering, Northants, NN16
OHB. Please mark the back of the cheque "SAFEWINGS". Thank you.
