Moth Angle Shades

Latin name: Phlogophora meticulosa

Size: Wingspan around 48mms.

Distribution: Found throughout the UK.

Months seen: All year round.

Habitat: Parks, gardens and hedgerows.

Food: Nectar. The larvae can be green or brown and feed on low growing plants.

Special features: The colours of the Angle Shades moth vary from green to red. At rest the moth resembles a wrinkled leaf. This one (above) has just emerged from its larval case.
