Flower Buttercups

Latin name: Ranunculaceae

Although we normally associate the name buttercups with the golden yellow meadow flowers shown above, there are many more plants belonging to the buttercup family. The scientific name for this family of plants is 'ranunculaceae' and they all produce what are known as 'primitive' flowers.

The Creeping Buttercup

Latin name:Ranunculus repens
Grows to a height of 50cms.
Flowers May to September.

The Meadow Buttercup

Latin name: Ranunculus acris
Grows to a height of 1 metre.
Flowers May to October.
