Bird  Coal Tit

Latin name: Parus ater

Size: Approximately 11cms.

Distribution: Found throughout the UK.

Months seen: All year round.

Habitat: Woodlands and gardens.

Food: Insects and seeds.

Special features: The Coal Tit is the smallest member of the tit family in Britain. Normally found in coniferous woodlands and plantations, but in winter time will visit garden bird tables for nuts and seeds.

The Coal Tit has a very high pitched call which sounds something like "tsseee".
