Latin name: Libellula quadrimaculata

Size: Wingspan approximately 76mms

Distribution: Found throughout the U.K.

Months seen: May to August.

Habitat: Ponds and lakes - prefers more acidic water.

Food: Flying insects.

Special features: The name comes from the four wing spots. The narrow tapering abdomen differentiate it from the broad-bodied chaser.
