Beetle  Garden Chafer

Latin name: Phyllopertha horticola

Size: Approximately 10mm long

Distribution: Found throughout the UK.

Months seen: June and July.

Habitat: Gardens, parks, hedgerows and woodland edges.

Food: Foliage of various plants and trees.

Special features: Garden chafers have chestnut brown wing casings which are covered in tiny hairs. The head legs and thorax are dark green in colour, and like other chafers the antennae have fan-like flaps at the ends.
