Eye witnesses said there was so much activity that the water looked as if it was boiling. There were dolphins of all ages, including mothers and young, leaping out of the water.

The area is well known for its cetaceans, and, as in previous years, the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society is currently in the region carrying out research.

In addition to the dolphins, there have been sightings of Humpback, Fin and Minke Whales in the area in recent weeks.

It is not unusual to see large gatherings of common dolphins further out to sea, but the reason behind their appearance off the Welsh coast is a bit of a mystery. It's possible that these waters are currently providing them with excellent feeding and breeding opportunities.
