The Pseudoscorpions Secret Weapon

UK Safari Tip:
A great way to see all the details on these tiny arachnids and other small creatures is with a powerful hand lens - click here

Despite their diminutive size, pseudoscorpions are very effective hunters. Unlike true scorpions, they lack a stinging tail, but they make up for this with another secret weapon.

Depending on the species, one or both of the pincers (called pedipalps), are equipped with cutting teeth. The longest of these teeth is connected to a poison gland, so when it grips onto its victims, it poisons them at the same time.
