Photo of the Month
January 2005

Preparing for Take-Off by Dean Stables

This photo of a Burnished Brass moth, head on, was taken by Dean Stables using an Olympus C5000 Digital camera.

When their body temperature is too low, moths get ready for a flight by beating their wings rapidly. This warms them up, and Dean managed to catch the moment just before the moth took off.
