Adder by Robin Ward

Click Here Send this Photo as a Postcard

This picture of an adder was taken by Robin Ward using a Canon EOS 50E with a Sigma 135 - 400 mm telephoto lens and extension tubes. Robin said the set up allowed a good close view without being in strike range (about two feet away from her).

Using the extension tubes meant he lost around 2 f stops. Not ideal as he had to hand hold the camera. A tripod would not have been practical with this type of shot. The adder was found basking in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire.
