Beetle  Summer Chafer

Latin name: Amphimallon solstitialis

Size: Approximately 20mms long.

Distribution: Found throughout the UK.

Months seen: June to August.

Habitat: Meadows, hedgerows and gardens.

Food: Plants and tree foliage.

Special features: Similar to the cockchafer but much smaller. They are declining in numbers now, but where found they are often seen in large numbers.
