Welcome

Buzzard with injured wing Great Tit Owlets

Welcome to the Safewings Website.

Safewings was founded in 1966 by Andy Meads to take in and care for injured wild birds. Today, Andy runs the sanctuary together with his wife Jacqui.  Each year they successfully release hundreds of injured and orphaned birds back into the wild.

URGENT APPEAL

Safewings have never accepted financial donations, but are now facing the serious issue of having to stop taking in birds throughout 2011 due to lack of funding.

To continue their work they need donations to the Wildlife Veterinary Treatment Fund at their local Vets. This fund, initiated by Safewings, is the first of it's kind in the Country.  The monies are held in Trust and used at the discretion of the Vets for Safewings or anyone taking in any injured wildlife.  If you are able to make a donation of any size it would really help.

Please make your cheque or Postal Order payable to "AVENUE VETERINARY HOSPITAL" and send it to: 33 St Peters Avenue, Kettering, Northants, NN16 OHB. Please mark the back of the cheque "SAFEWINGS". Thank you.
