Latin name: Micropterix calthella

Size: Wingspan approximately 8 - 10mm.

Distribution:
Found throughout most of the UK.

Months seen: May and June.

Habitat: Gardens, meadows, fields and woodland rides.

Food: Pollen.

Special features: Micropterix calthella is a tiny moth with metallic bronze coloured wings. They fly by day and are often seen in large groups on spring flowers in May and June.
