Sparrowhawk Splat!
____________________________________________________
Posted: 26th September 2008

How do you know when there's a sparrowhawk in the area?

Sometimes the only evidence you find of a sparrowhawk is a pile of neatly plucked feathers  - the remains of it's last meal. Other times you might see one swooping past, about to catch a meal.

Eric Connelly knows for sure there's a sparrowhawk in his garden. It left this ghostly image of itself on his patio door.

Sparrowhawks are well known for their accuracy when flying in for the kill, but sometimes even they can get it wrong. This particular bird didn't notice the glass door in its flightpath, and the force of the impact caused the dust in its feathers to leave this imprint.
